Capital-area virtual forums to be held Oct. 14, 15

AUGUSTA — The League of Women Voters, along with a area organizations, is sponsoring candidate forums several Capital Area Maine House and Senate Districts on Oct. 14 and 15.
The sponsors urge residents to attend the webinars and learn how the candidates will deal with the important issues facing Kennebec County and the state. There will be an opportunity for the audience to submit questions via Zoom Q&A, which will be presented by the moderator. Questions can be submitted anonymously.
Co-sponsoring the non-partisan events, which allow voters to become familiar with the candidates, are the League of Women Voters Capital Area, Temple Beth El, Maine Equal Justice, Bridging the Gap, VanderBrew, Alternative Manufacturing, Charles M. Bailey Public Library of Winthrop, Lithgow Public Library, Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce and Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Augusta.

House Districts 81, 83, 84 and Senate District 14
A forum for candidates for House Districts 81, 83 and 84, and Senate District 14 will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, on Zoom. To register, click here or visit www.lwvme.org/Events. The forum will also live stream on Facebook at facebook.com/LWVME.
The forum will be moderated by Chuck Cohen, retired hearing examiner for the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
The schedule is:
6-6:30 p.m. House District 81 (Monmouth, Readfield, Winthrop): Tavis Hasenfus (D) and Joseph Pietroski (R).
6:30- 7 p.m. House District 83 (Farmingdale, Gardiner): Thomas Harnett (D) and Christopher Dilts (R).
7–7:30 p.m. Senate District 14 (Chelsea, Farmingdale, Gardiner, Hallowell, Manchester, Monmouth, Pittston, Randolph, Readfield, West Gardiner, and Winthrop): Shenna Bellows (D) and Mark Walker (R).
7:30-8 p.m. House District 84 (Hallowell, Manchester, Gardiner): Charlotte Warren (D) and Scott Taylor (R).

House Districts 85, 86, Senate District 15

It will be moderated by Roger Katz, former state senator and Augusta mayor.
