AUBURN – Good Shepherd Food Bank has made a trio of new hires.
Georgia Jenkins is corporate and foundation relations officer, Jane Clifford is volunteer program manager and Megan Crowder is marketing and communications coordinator.
“I’m excited to join the team at Good Shepherd Food Bank and support the goal of ending hunger in Maine through improved access, education, advocacy, and effective partnerships,” said Jenkins. “I’ve always had a passion for anti-hunger and anti-poverty work, beginning as a teenager serving meals at the local soup kitchen and deciding early on to focus on solutions-based work in the nonprofit field.”
With more than a decade of nonprofit experience, Jenkins was grants manager at Preble Street in Portland and is on the board of Youth and Family Outreach. Her focus in the nonprofit sector has been on relationship building, grants management and process improvement. She earned a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University and a bachelor’s in sociology from Drew University. She served two terms with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, which fueled her passion for volunteering, community engagement and connecting with people.
Clifford said, “I felt a strong passion for Good Shepherd Food Bank after listening to Kristen Miale speak at a community meeting. What caught my attention was not only the emphasis to improve access to food, but to provide fresh, whole foods to those in-need. I originally signed up to volunteer, and now I’m thrilled to work with such a dedicated group of individuals.”
Clifford began her professional career as a corporate communications project manager for an international engineering firm. She shifted her focus from marketing and communications to fundraising and development for a wide range of health care organizations throughout the Midwest. Clifford then moved on to City Year in Manchester, N.H., which provides educational assistance to at-risk students by leveraging AmeriCorps volunteers. Throughout much of her career and volunteer experiences, there was some connection to food insecurity. Her personal belief is every person should have access to nutritious food and primary health care.
Crowder said, “It’s an honor to join Good Shepherd Food Bank. I am excited to be working for a well-respected organization, with a team of dedicated professionals working toward a common goal of ending hunger in Maine, a mission that I am passionate about.”
Crowder is joining from Marshall Communications, where she was an account executive with many travel and tourism clients, as well as clients in higher education and health care industries. She has nonprofit experience with her agency client work and at the Kennebec Valley YMCA. She has a strong background in digital marketing, social media listening, storytelling and driving online customer engagement through social platforms.
