MOUNT VERNON — Dr. Shaw Memorial Library has opened for curbside service, with pickup times frmo 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, beginning this Saturday, June 6.
Those picking up will have to have emailed or called the library with their requests by 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Patrions can search the catalog at drshawlibrary.org. Click on “Catalog” along the top to start searching by title, author or keyword/subject.
Email DrShaw@shaw.lib.me.us with name, phone number and list of books or materials by author and title. Those who want library help selecting books should say what they are interested in, or what other authors they like and library staff will try to accommodate the request.
Those requesting for children should say whether they want picture books, or juvenile (elementary and middle school) level.
Patrons can also call 207-293-2565 and leave a message with the information.
Books will be ready for pickup unless the library notifies you that they are not available. The library will keep a reserve list for items that are in circulation or quarantine at the time of the request.
The library is not able to borrow books from other libraries at this time.
All orders will be outside by the main entrance, or on the side porch in case of rain. They will be in a bag and labeled with the patron’s name. Materials will also be there for patrons to browse, with specific instructions on how to handle them and check them out.
Anyone who is not a patron but wishes to use the library’s services should call or email and someone will get back to you.
Those picking up up should practice social distancing and only send one person to pick up materials. As always, materials are checked out for two weeks and can be returned anytime in our book drop by the main entrance.
Those who need someone to pick up or deliver books for them should let the library know. It has arranged with Neighbors Driving Neighbors to provide this service during the Saturday curbside hours and will make the arrangements.
