FALMOUTH — Following the success and adherence to safety measures at drive-thru confessions at over 25 Catholic churches across Maine, Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston and Parish of the Holy Eucharist in Falmouth are offering Eucharistic adoration, parking lot style.
Starting on Monday, April 27, eucharistic adoration has been offered in a “drive up” format from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Holy Martyrs Church, 266 Foreside Road in Falmouth. The gathering is hosted each Monday evening. Drivers must stay in their vehicles at all times. Participants can park in a spot facing the rear of the church as the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will happen through the windows of the kitchen.
In Lewiston, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is being held in a “drive up” format from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays in the parking lot of the Holy Family Rectory on Sabattus Street. Drivers must stay in their vehicles at all times. Benediction will be held each night of the parking lot adoration at 7 p.m.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is a manner of honoring the Holy Eucharist, with proper solemnity, as it is placed in the view of the faithful for the purpose of paying devotions before it. It flows from the sacrifice of the Mass and serves to deepen our hunger for communion with Christ and the rest of the Church.
