LEWISTON — Juliana L’Heurex, chairwoman of an upcoming local exhibit on the contributions of Franco-American veterans, will be the featured guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Lewiston-Auburn Rotary in May. The meeting will be from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, May 11, at the Ramada Inn.
L’Heurex, a resident of Tophsham, is a board member of the Franco-American Collection at the University of Southern Maine Lewiston Auburn College, which is hosting a Tuesday, May 23 exhibit and community presentation that highlights the contributions of veterans to the United States’ wars and military campaigns, according to a news release from the L-A Rotary.
She has written about Franco-Americans for 30 years in newspaper articles and published essays, she blogs about Franco-American news and culture, and has served on Franco-American Task Force appointed by the Maine Legislature. She has also been recognized by the Franco-American Hall of Fame. As a member of the Rotary Club of Portland and a Rotarian since 1998, she enjoys speaking to Rotary clubs about “Service Above Self” and supporting the clubs’ role as community service leaders, said the release.
