Hiram forest fire presentation is now Oct. 24

Mar. 202020

HIRAM — The presentation on forest fires at the Hiram Historical Society, originally scheduled for March, will now be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.
The Northeastern Forest Fire Protection Compact for joint cooperation in Maine and beyond was initiated after the disastrous wildfires in 1947. Why haven’t we had another fire like the historic wildfires that year? What if we do? Tom Parent of the Northeastern Forest Fire Protection Commission will shows us why and tells us how it helps us. He will outline a few simple steps to take that can save your house. This joint program of Hiram Historical Society and Soldiers Memorial Library is free and open to the public. It will be at the library, 85 Main St. (Route 117). Light refreshments will be served.
