Jay offers Transfer Station guidance for town residents

Mar. 202020

JAY — Town officials are asking that residents hold their fluorescent light bulbs rather bring them to the Transfer Station.
The bulbs are fragile and can’t simply be piled up outside, and staff would have to handle them to prevent breakage. The town is working to keep the Transfer Station up and running while keeping our employees healthy. Officials thank residents for their understanding.
The Transfer Station will remain open, but town officials are strongly encouraging residents to use curbside pickup rather than coming into the Transfer Station. In order to reduce the material that staff handles, the station will not accepting single sort recycling at the facility. Recyclable material should be put out for curbside pickup. The Share Shack will also be closed until further notice.
Employees at the transfer station will not be helping residents with removing material from their vehicles and will be actively engaging in social distancing.
