Lewiston artist’s works feted at March 12 Viles Arboretum reception

Mar. 52020

AUGUSTA — An exhibit of works by artist Valera Crofoot, of Lewiston, will be featured during a reception from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at the Viles Arboretum, 153 Hospital St.
The reception is free and open the public, and is the opportunity for the public to view Crofoot’s works, meet the artist and enjoy refreshments and snacks.
Crofoot, of Lewiston paints in oils and her works capture the beauty of nature’s scenes from Maine’s more “civilized” coast line to the bold and battered shores and remote coastal communities of Newfoundland. Crofoot excels in capturing the raw beauty of that unique interface between land and the Atlantic Ocean as well as the scenes and land marks that punctuate the coves and harbors of cultures intimately connected to the sea.
The Viles Arboretum is on 224 acres of fields, forests, wetlands and with botanical collections from around the world. It offers an ever-changing selection of inspirational exhibits, educational and practical programs for the general public and for schools and focuses on interactive, creative and hands-on teaching with a focus on botany and natural history.
