High Peak’s Alliance board member Darryl Wood caught the sun setting on the Bigelow Range, stretching from Franklin to Somerset counties. Mount Bigelow is on of the state’s highest summits. Maine in winter is a site to behold. Whether you enjoy skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing or just traveling between unique pubs and restaurants, the high peaks region provides it all. The alliance is a volunteer, non-profit organization made up of local hunters, hikers, birders, loggers, fishermen, snowmobile and ATV riders, Maine Guides, cross-country skiers, mountain bikers and others working together since 2007 to ensure continuing public access to Maine’s High Peaks Region for residents as well as visitors, according to the alliance’s website.
