Messalonskee Players will present ‘The Tempest’ March 5-8

OAKLAND — The Messalonskee High School Players will bring the magical concoction of comedy, fantasy and romance of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” March 5 through 8 to the Messalonskee High School Performing Arts Center, 131 Messalonskee High Drive.
The cast has been workshopping a wide variety of strange happenings, from creating a storm on stage to learning acrobatics, swordplay, song and dance. To help them bring the magical island to life, the crew has been working behind the scenes to create a shipwreck, magical books and even puppets. There is something for everyone in this production, particularly as, once again, the cast is pairing up with the Empty Bowls Project to benefit area food pantries.
Dinner and the show will be the specialty Friday, March 6, a portion of the proceeds donated to the Empty Bowls Project. Show times are at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8.
