SKOWHEGAN — The next monthly AARP Maine Skowhegan Coffee Talk will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Millers’ Table, Maine Grains.
Paul B. Frederic, a retired University of Maine professor and a Starks selectman will be the featured speaker. Frederic wrote “Canning Gold: Northern New England’s sweet corn industry,” about rural Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont during the “corn shop century,” 1860 to 1960. He will talk about the canning industry in the county and some other history of interest.
Attendees will also hear about other AARP activities and events. The coffee talk is open to the public. It will be canceled in the event of bad weather.
