AUBURN — In an effort to help countless children and families in need during Advent, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Auburn and Catholic Charities Maine worked together to host “Jolly Gifts,” an initiative that aimed to warm hearts and offer support to parish and community members as they prepared for Christmas.
Parishioners at the parish donated hundreds of toys to the program which were then distributed to local families in need.
“As we wrap up another busy Christmas season, Catholic Charities Maine Parish Social Ministry would like to sincerely thank Deacon Denis Mailhot and the parishioners of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Auburn for their generous donation,” said Bill Wood, of Catholic Charities Maine. “These parishioners, through their acts of kindness, made the season of Christ’s birth warmer and more joy-filled for many Maine families in need.”
“Our parish was overwhelmed by the generosity and number of children’s Christmas gifts donated,” said Mailhot, the coordinator of parish social ministry at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. “Working with Catholic Charities Maine to provide Christmas gifts to needy families is such a blessing in this season of giving.”
