Town of Paris news for April

INVITATION TO BID – TOWN OF PARIS – MOORE PARK RESTROOM: The Town of Paris, Maine will receive sealed bids at the Paris Town Office, 33 Market Square, Paris ME. 04281 until Thursday, April 20th, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at which time all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

Scope of work: All Labor and materials to build a single stall handicap accessible restroom stall. 6.5 x 6.5 foot Building to be built with concrete block, metal roof, steel door, stainless steel toilet, and a 1000 gallon storage tank for waste. Plus, Concrete pad for building. In addition, project to include excavated holes for trees placed around building. Project must be completed no later than June 23, 2017. If project is not completed by this date a $200 per day penalty will be assessed and deducted from the project cost total. Final payment will not be issued until completed project is approved by Town Manager.

Bidders: Must show proof of insurance. Bidding deadline Thursday April 20th at 2pm. The Paris Select Board will review bids on Monday April 24th at 7pm during the regular select board meeting. Paris Town Clerk Liz Knox announced nomination papers for the upcoming June election are now available. There are two selectmen positions, two Paris Utility District trustee seats and two SAD 17 director positions, all with three-year terms. Researchers are doing this study to understand rural Mainers’ ideas and experiences about smoking, lung cancer risks, and health care providers. As part of the study, we will hold a group discussion at the American Legion Hall, 212 Main Street, Norway, ME on Thursday, April 13th from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Each group member will receive a $40 Hannaford Gift Card and a $10 Irving Gas Card. Pizza will be served.

You may qualify to take part if you are:
* A current or former smoker
* Age 40 or older
* A resident of Oxford County
* Someone who hasn’t had a medical checkup for 3 years or more.
