Veterans benefit from annual Oxford fundraiser

OXFORD — Over the last five years, guests of Oxford Casino Hotel & Event Center have donated more than $150,000 to the Veterans First fundraiser, helping Veterans Inc., Veterans Count (a division of Easter Seals) and Wounded Heroes Program of Maine. This year, they broke their fundraising efforts by raising $51,000, providing each program with $17,000 to assist veterans.
“We are very proud to be able to channel these donations to such excellent programs and we thank them for the great work they do for veterans in Maine,” said Jack Sours, the casino’s vice president and general manager. The effort is in partnership with Townsquare Media.
Veterans Inc.’s mission is to help veterans regain control of their lives, to eliminate homelessness among veterans by providing the highest quality services, and continuing to create new opportunities in the area of health, employment and housing. Their website is veteransinc.org.
Veterans Count, has a mission to provide critical and timely financial assistance and services when no other resource is available to veterans, service members and their families, to ensure their dignity, health and overall well-being. Their website is vetscount.org/Maine.
Wounded Heroes Program of Maine is a division of Warrior Legacy Foundation that provides a safety net to veterans returning to the States after being injured in the line of duty.
