TURNER — Turner Public Library, with the help of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Turner and community volunteers, is reviving the holiday sing-along that was a staple of Turner’s celebrations for years.
The concert and carol singing will begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, in the Unitarian Universalist Church, Route 117, across the street from the library.
Turner’s caroling singalong was held for many years in the Town House, next door to the Unitarian Universalist Church, and residents have asked for someone to bring back the holiday gathering. Turner Public Library, a part of Turner for 80 years, decided 2019 was the perfect year to bring the community together once again.
“We realized that if there was an organization that was in the perfect position to restart the caroling night, it’s the library,” said Amanda Peralta, Turner Public Library Board of Trustees vice president and one of the event organizers. “Our team put a lot of thought into what we could do to make the holidays special, and we realized, there was an event that was loved for years, and we could make it happen again. It’s going to be a really special night, and we hope that the whole town will turn out.”
Musician Paul Bright will lead the carol singing, and “Mrs. Claus” will read “The Night Before Christma,”s before a special guest singer closes out the event.
Volunteer cooks will prepare, and TPL will sell, homemade soup, breads, and snacks at the event. There will also be seasonal crafts for sale. Proceeds benefit the Turner Public Library.
