Children’s books, food donations sought to supplement Auburn Food Pantry

AUBURN — The Auburn United Methodist Church is asking for donations of children’s books and food supplies for the High Street Food Pantry, which distributes donated food and children’s books every Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the 106 Pleasant St. entrance to the High Street Congregational Church.
The food pantry is sponsored by five local churches and the Good Shepherd Food Bank, manned by local volunteers and open to all residents. Books and food donations may be dropped off at the United Methodist Church at 439 Park Ave., or call 207-782-3972 for additional information.
The pantry has on-going needs for the following items — peanut butter, canned vegetables, soup, canned pasta (spaghetti, ravioli, spaghetti-o’s, etc.), canned meats, canned fruit, dry cereal, baking items (mixes, sugar, flour, etc.), soup, crackers, toilet paper. The food pantry operates Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Annually, the pantry serves more than 3,000 people. The goal is helping local people meet their most basic needs.
