TURNER – Landscape professional Edith Ellis and ‘Tomato Lady’ Amy LeBlanc will be the featured speakers at the Turner Public Library’s 6th annual Spring Seminar in Gardening, 9 a.m., Saturday, April 15, in the Leavitt Institute Building, Turner Center. Coffee, doughnuts and door prizes donated by Turner businesses are also on the agenda.
The seminar is free; there will be a $7l charge for lunch and some items will be available for purchase. Ellis, who speaks at 9:30 a.m., will talk about “Color, Texture and Plant Placement in the Perennial Border.”
She has been a Maine certified nursery & landscape professional for more than 30 years, and owns and operates Sunnyside Gardens on North Parish Road. LeBlanc, of Whitehill Farm in East Wilton has grown hundreds of varieties of heirloom tomatoes to sell as seedlings and for their fruits, while passing her knowledge and work ethic on to young helpers each year. She will speak on “Fablous Tomatoes: From the Garden to the Table.”
