LEWISTON –SeniorsPlus has announced its Education Center classes for October, including the start of a six-week Living Well With Chronic Pain workshop in two area locations, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Other workshops and classes include information on the 2020 Census, Medicare advice, crafts, chair yoga and more.
Living Well with Chronic Pain classes will be held Tuesdays, Oct. 8 through Nov. 12, at: Greenwood Town office, 593 Gore Road, Greenwood, 9 to 11:30 a.m.; and at the Dempsey Center, Lewiston, 29 Lowell St., 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

You Count!: 2020 Census Information Session — 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, with instrutors Elizabeth Enright and Becky Hayes Boober, U.S. Census partnership specialists. The class will go over how the 2020 Census is safe, important and even easier than before. Census results determine the federal funds coming to a community to pay for roads, schools, and hospitals, as well as influence state redistricting. Not only will it include ideas about how the Census can ahieve a full count, but also employment opportunities and other new developments.
I Don’t Wanna Move… But What if I Have to? — 2:30 to 3:30 Thursday, Oct. 17, with instrucotr Stefanie Mahr Damien. The presentation will include tips and suggestions on aging in place by creating a safe home, so the resident can stay there as long as possible, decision making and, if someone must move, how to decide where to go.
Understanding Cognitive Loss & Dementia — 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21. Instructor Angela Moore, of Beacon Hospice, discusses how to identify dementia, how to learn to live with some memory loss, as well as how to approach friends and family who have memory loss.
