ELLSWORTH — Several central and western Maine projects iare among four receiving grants totaling $335,479 through the Belvedere Historic Preservation and Energy Efficiency Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.
Area grantees include:
* Benton Falls Congregational Church UCC, Benton, to strip and repair the church roof, install a metal roof, and repair/replace as necessary the corner boards, cornice returns, and cornices for the preservation of the church, $20,000
* Colonial Theater Inc., Augusta, to rehabilitate the front facade of the theater, $10,700
* Madison Public Library, Magison, to replace the metal roof, $10,000
* Maine Grange Foundation (formerly Merriconeag Grange 425), Augusta, to repair a section of damaged interior floor, re-coat roof, fix rotted sill and siding, repair ornamental balustrades on entry porch roof, repair interior privy roof, and fix trim, $10,415
* Monmouth Museum, to make the North Monmouth Library more energy efficient by fully insulating the structure, upgrading electrical wiring, and installing interior storm windows, $11,530
* Norway Museum and Historical Society, to finish insulating the first-floor walls; stabilize temperature and humidity of the second floor with a heat pump; and upgrade our electrical efficiency with LED fixtures, $6,966.

The Belvedere Historic Preservation and Energy Efficiency Fund supports the preservation, restoration, and retrofitting of historic buildings in Maine. An anonymous donor established the fund in 2007.
