FARMINGTON — The Old South Concert Series continues Thursday, April 20, with a collaborative blend of musical talent from Maine and Canada, featuring “Songs Beyond Borders.” A jam session will begin at 6:15 p.m., and the concert will follow at 7 p.m.
“Songs Beyond Borders” is an ongoing project between the East Coast Music Association, New England Celtic Arts and the Maine Arts Commission seeking to provide a cross-cultural exchange between Maine and the Maritimes. Part I will be held in April with Old South Church as one of the five selected Maine venues; and Part II in late October. The musicians have been carefully chosen to highlight stories and songs from the regions involved. Maine’s talented musicians/singer-songwriters include Denny Breau and Heather Pierson, and the Canadian artists include Nova Scotia’s Ian Sherwood and Prince Edward Island’s Askley Condon.
Old South Church proceeds benefits the Newman Wing handicapped accessibility fund. Adult admission is $15 with discounted student prices ($10/$5). Refreshments are by donation. For ticket reservations, call 207-491-5919.
