WINTHROP — The Kennebec Land Trust will host a photography walk on its new 330-acre conservation property, Surry Hill in Fayette, at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Land trust staff, and local photographer Phil Downes will lead a hike for photography enthusiasts to capture the natural beauty of the land. All are welcome, and bringing a camera is encouraged. There is no formal trail system at the site.
If conserved, KLT plans to maintain approximately 15 acres as open fields to preserve scenic views of the White Mountains and nearby hills, lakes and woodland. The Surry Hill fields also offfer blueberries for hikers and habitat for pollinators, ground-nesting birds and resident and migratory raptors.
Those who would like to take part should meet at the bus turnaround at the south end of Tom Surrey Road in Fayette.

Members and supporters, including one anonymous large donor and Camps Winnebago, Laurel and Vega, have pledged or donated $199,500 (as of July 17). In order to complete this conservation project by the end of October, KLT needs to raise an additional $92,000 through private donations and grants.
