GREENE — Greene Baptist Church will host an evening of gospel music sung by one of the finest tenors in gospel music — Jason Runnels — at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the church, 102 Main St.
Runnels began a full time career in Christian music in 1998 when he joined Tony Gore & Majesty. In 2000, he was nominated as one of the top five young artists in Gospel music by the readers of “Singing News Magazine.” In 2001, Runnels was a part of the #1 song in America, “Blessed Be the Name of the Lord.” After 5 years with Tony Gore & Majesty, he joined the Down East Boys from Reidsville, N.C. Runnels has written five Top 20 songs and had several album cuts throughout his 20 year career. After ministering full time for 15 years, Runnels felt led to leave the road to be with his family.
In May 2013, Runnels and his wife Theresa launched _Jason Runnels Ministries_ and in May of 2014 they took their family ministry full time. Jason now sings as a soloist and in April of 2018, he was ordained to preach. Jason has been preaching revivals, homecoming services as well as speaking for different types of conferences and youth camps.
This is a free concert but a free will offering will be taken to help Runnels with his ministry. For more information, call the church at 207-946-5505.
