Rangeley Water District trustee seat open; flushing set

Mar. 202017

RANGELEY — Nomination papers are available at the Town Office for a three-year seat on the Rangeley Water District Board of Trustees.
Filing deadline is April 28, and the election is Tuesday, June 13.

All registered voters residing within the district are eligible to run.

The district also announced it will conduct maintenance flushing from May 1-June 15. Customers may experience chlorine smell and taste, discolored water, and lower than normal pressure periodically during the flushing period, according to a news release from the district.

The district also announced that customers who want to pay their bill with a credit card can do so via Maine PayPort, a credit card processing service that accepts payments from customers using Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express over the phone or at its office at 15 Reservoir Road. The district has received many requests from customers for such a service.

Maine PayPort is a third-party payment processor operated by InforME, the state of Maine’s e-government provider. An administrative cost is added to each payment made through the service, which pays for the operation of the service so that there is no cost to the district to accept credit cards, the release said. All customers will be informed of the additional cost amount before their payment is processed, and may choose an alternate form of payment (check or cash) if they do not want to pay the additional cost.
