NORWAY — The Battle of the Books has begun at the Norway Memorial Library, 258 Main St., during the summer months.
Books will be pitted against each other to determine the NML champion.
Each week there will be two match-ups of books going head to-head in single-elimination challenges. Readers may vote for their favorite titles and see them advance to the next round. As temperatures rise,so will the battle of the best book.
Those who who’d like to take part may visit the library beginning Monday, July 8, or check the Facebook Battle of the Books weekly posts to cast a vote.
Week one will pit “Alphabet House”by Jussi Adler-Olson against “Witch Elm”by Tana French and “The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah vs. “Educated” by Tara Westover. All voters will be entered in a raffle drawing to win a book selected from among the contenders.
Norway Memorial Library is also planning a new afternoon book discussion group, “Books in the Afternoon,” which will meet once a month on Wednesdays, from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
The first discussion is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17 and features “Next Year in Havana,” by Chanel Cleeton. The second discussion is planned for Aug. 14 and features “Once Upon a River,” by Diane Setterfield.
