STRONG — Volunteers who want a chance to get outdoors in the Rangeley region backcountry, learn new, or practice, trail-building skills and take part in an important community effort may help the Peaks Alliance build the northern section of the Fly Road Crosby Trail.
The work will involve clearing brush, establishing water bars, building bog bridges and marking the trail with paint and signs.
No special skills or experience are required. Volunteers only need bring a smile, water, a bag lunch, bug dope, sunscreen, work gloves, safety glasses and boots.
Works days are scheduled for Tuesday, June 11; Saturday June 15; Tuesday June 25; Saturday, June 29; Tuesday, July 2; Saturday, July 6; Tuesday, July 16; Saturday, July 20.
Volunteers will meet at 8:30 am at the Rangeley Overlook on Route 4 at the intersection with Dallas Hill Road.

The High Peaks Alliance is a volunteer, non-profit organization made up of local hunters, hikers, birders, loggers, fishermen, snowmobile and ATV riders, Maine Guides, cross-country skiers, mountain bikers and others working together in Franklin County since 2007 to ensure continuing public access to Maine’s High Peaks Region for residents as well as visitors.
