LEWISTON — The community is invited to take part in National Pet Preparedness Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Ave.
Participants may talk with the Androscoggin County Emergency Response Team members and learn the importance of planning for pets in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.
GAHS and the volunteer team from Androscoggin CERT will share information, tips and tricks on readying you, your family and and your pets in the event a disaster should strike.
Should an emergency occur, either man-made or natural, pets depend on their owners to protect them and be ready for disasters, including having enough food, water, supplies and be prepared to move them out of the house quickly and safely, if necessary.
These situations can be scary and stressful for everyone; by learning tips from the members of the Androscoggin CERT, you can have a disaster plan in place ensuring you and your pets stay safe and healthy.
