VIENNA — Chase away the cold and darkness this year with an evening surrounded by family and friends, including local fun, inspiring entertainment, hot mulled cider and snacks. The fourth annual Winter Revels will take place at the Vienna Union Hall at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. 
The lineup this year, introduced by Master of the Revels Dan Simons, includes but is not limited to a solstice play written, adapted and directed by Clair Dorr-Holman, and the return of the wild and crazy “little people” elfing around.
Finally, Maine’s premier Celtic duo, Castlebay, will drive cold winter away with joyous and mysterious seasonal songs and tunes from Ireland, Scotland and the British Isles as well as their native New England. The lilting sound of Irish flute, Celtic harp, fiddle and guitar will mingle revelry and lusty wassails with vibrant songs of mystery and wonder.
Castlebay’s Julia Lane is a vocalist, harper, songwriter and folklorist, and Fred Gosbe, a vocalist and storyteller, plays the 12- string guitar, fiddle, viola, Irish flute and the penny-whistle. The two unite to form Castlebay.
The Vienna Winter Revels is a family-friendly affair that will be sure to leave you warm and smiling. Tickets for the Revels are $8 for adults, $4 for children 10 and under with babes in arms free and go on sale on Dec. 1. Make sure to get tickets early since they have sold out in previous years.
