WINTHROP — Cub Scouts from Winthrop Pack 605 recently enjoyed racing the Pinewood Derby cars they built with their families.
Their cars reached speeds of more than 200 miles per hour down a track approximately 45 feet long.
The derby helped the Scouts learn some basic woodworking skills, physics principles and provided an opportunity to engage in friendly competition.The Pinewood Derby is just one of many fun annual events for the Cub Scouts.

Pack 605 meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Readfield Masonic Hall.
