Oxford Hills Rotary Club celebrates 35 years

OXFORD — The Rotary Club of Oxford Hills celebrated 35 years of service on Feb. 2, at the Oxford Casino Hotel. Club members and guests from the community and other Rotary Clubs joined in the celebration.

The highlight of the evening was naming Rotarian of the Year, Tally Decato. This was performed by Tina Fox, last year’s Rotarian of the Year.
After a social hour and meal served by the staff at Oxford Casino-Hotel, including an anniversary cake made by Fox, six members who have died over the past year were remembered. Remarks from several members, and guests, recognized the management of Oxford Casino for their assistance to the Club over the years. Former member and past president Perry Palmer honored his two daughters, naming them as Paul Harris Fellows.
Past Rotary International Vice President Mike McGovern presented recognition to three members who have made provisions in their wills to support The Rotary Foundation and Immediate Past President Chris Weston was recognized for a year of service.
The Oxford Hills Club is one of about 35,000 clubs worldwide and is one of 40 clubs in District 7780, covering the western mountains and seacoast areas of Maine and New Hampshire. The Oxford Hills Rotary Club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bethel and chartered in 1983 with 22 members.
