AUGUSTA — With the Legislature back in session, state senators and representatives are reminding schools and students about the honorary page program at the State House.
The day-long program gives students a unique opportunity to not only observe the state’s legislative process, but to be a part of it. Students from third grade through high school are encouraged to participate. Honorary pages help deliver messages, distribute documents within the Senate Chamber, interact with the senators and, most importantly, take part in a real-world, interactive legislative learning experience.
The Legislature is scheduled to be in session through late June. Honorary pages are needed throughout the session, so scheduling is flexible.
Students and their teachers and parents may contact their state representative or senator for more information or schedule a visit. State representatives may be found at legislature.maine.gov/house and state senators may be found at legislature.maine.gov/senate.
