Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine hosts Feb. 9 Wellness Share

NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine will host a Wellness Share from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Deering Memorial Community Center, 39 Main St. South Paris.

Everyone is welcome for an introduction to Reiki practice and self care, including massage, reflexology and polarity. There will be a potluck lunch at noon, and those attending may bring a dish if they wish.
Participants may stop in at any time and stay as long as they want. The activity is sponsored by Teresia Reiki, supported by the CRCWM. There is no charge to patients living with cancer and caregivers.
The event is one of many offerings in February by the resource center, 199 Main St.
Other new February offerings are Beginner Ukulele with Nancy Hohmann from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the center, and Drum Circle from 10 a.m. to noon for beginners, 1 to 3 p.m. for advanced at the Deering Community Center.
The center also offers support groups, crafts, excersize and more. Activities such as coloring, knitting and games are available at all times.
Drop-in hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or look for resources.They have many pamphlets and a lending library. The center is also a place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, chat with a volunteer or take time for yourself by participating in scheduled programs. The center will not be open on Tuesdays in February.
In case of inclement weather, when School Administrative District 17 cancels school, the CRCWM will also be closed and activities canceled.
