CANTON — The Canton Historical Society will show the original 1937 version of the movie “A Star is Born,” starring Janet Gaynor and Fredic March.
The movie will be shown from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the historical society, 25 Turner St.
Although the film has been made five times through the years, the 1937 version is the original. It received Academy Award nominations in seven categories and won for best original story. The film was produced by David O. Selznick (who also produced “Gone with the Wind”).
This event is free of admission and open to the public — and the venue is handicapped accessible. Popcorn, candy and drinks will be sold.
The Canton Historical Society is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization devoted to the preservation and celebration of Canton’s heritage and history.
