Raymond Village Church will host ‘Silent Night’ service Dec. 20

RAYMOND — The Rev. Nancy Foran, pastor of Raymond Village Community Church, is inviting the public to “an exploration of ‘All Things Silent Night’ — a time to sing, listen, decompress, center yourself, meditate and reflect on the true, deeper meaning of Christmas.”

The event will be held Thursday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m. at a special pre-Christmas candlelight service at the church, 27 Main St. (Route 121).
Silent Night is one of the iconic Christmas carols, translated into 140 languages with hundreds of variations. The RVCC choir and music coordinator Patrick Martin will explore several of these with narration by Foran along with opportunities for congregational singing and quiet contemplation.
“Not many people know that 2018 is the 200 anniversary of that most wonderful of all Christmas carols,” said Foran. “Simple and compelling, Silent Night has a special power to calm us, especially when sung in the warmth of candlelight. It helps us focus on that which is truly meaningful, so especially important in this time of such great stress and uncertainty. Regardless of your faith or spiritual perspective, you’ll be glad you came.”
