Late winter snowshow hike planned for Pleasant Mountain March 11

BRIDGTON — The staff of the Loon Echo Land Trust is hosting a late winter snowshoe hike from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 11, at Pleasant Mountain. The planned 3-mile route will ascend the Bald Peak Trail to Big Bald summit, a 1,900-foot elevation gain, proceed to the North Ridge Trail to North Peak, then down Sue’s Way Trail to the parking area.

Snowshoes or traction devices are required, as well as proper non-cotton clothing, snacks and water. Hiking poles are highly recommended, according to a release from the Loon Echo. The hike is considered strenuous and is expected to take about five hours. It’s also subject to weather conditions.
