AUBURN – Winter months in Maine can be challenging, so for the fifth year in a row, Auburn Public Works will be offering a Sand Buckets for Seniors program.
Through this very successful campaign, APW employees and deliver a free bucket full of sand for seniors living in Auburn.
Recipients use this sand on their walkways, steps and driveways to make them safer during the snowy/icy winter months.
“This program is a way for the city to show our appreciation and respect for the seniors in our community, and to help keep them safe,” said Public Works Director Dan Goyette. “Our employees really enjoy connecting with residents in this way.”
This special program is made possible through the generous support of Home Depot and Lowe’s of Auburn, who are proud to partner with Auburn Public Works, reaching out to local seniors to show them their community cares.
Auburn homeowners, 65 and older, who wish to receive a free bucket of sand to use on steps and walkways should contact Auburn Public Works at 207-333-6670 by Nov. 2 .
Buckets will be delivered beginning on Nov. 12.
