PAID POLITICAL AD: We must work together to get things done

It is not news to anybody that today’s political climate is contentious. From D.C. to Augusta, and everywhere in between, our country is more polarized than ever. Disagreement and debate is healthy, but political attacks and refusal to talk to those with whom you disagree is dangerous.

Our political climate is frustrating to many citizens, and it is frustrating to many elected officials — myself included.
That’s why in Augusta I have always strived to work across the aisle, hearing opinions and learning from people across the political spectrum. It is also why I work with the National Institute for Civil Discourse, bringing their experts to Augusta to host workshops, and helping them promote their message across the country while learning about ways I can help promote civil discourse right here in Maine.
As your state senator, I will always take a reasoned approach to the issues, seeking bipartisan compromise and working to reach solutions that best serve the people of Kennebec County, not a political party. To find solutions to the toughest issues facing our state and our nation, we must work together, and we must avoid the rancor and nasty politics that has crept into nearly every debate.
