LEWISTON – A volunteer and a staffer were honored at Tri-County Mental Health Services’ Annual Meeting and Art Show Tuesday, Oct. 16.
Jennifer Chretien, of Farmington, was presented with the Giving Voice Award, which recognizes an individual or group for extraordinary efforts on behalf of the organization’s consumers. Chretien, a volunteer, is a peer facilitator for Tri-County’s dialectical behavior therapy program in Farmington.
Susan Parker was presented the Inspiration Award, which is given to a Tri-County Mental Health Services staff member who demonstrates excellence and exemplary commitment to serving clients and achieving the agency’s mission. Parker is a licensed clinical professional counselor and program team lead for the multisystemic therapy program in the Tri-County Oxford office
Chretien was nominated by Chelsea Steele, Meredith Morgan and Kimberly Foss. Foss, a nurse care manager, wrote, “Jen goes above and beyond for clients and is a great resource for our agency. She has a great attitude and is a joy to work with!”
Steele, health home coordinator, and Morgan, a clinician, wrote, “Jen is always helping and serving others in some capacity. When not connecting people with resources as a volunteer at the United Way, she is advocating for others as a member of the board for Evergreen Behavioral Services. Jen is an integral member of our (dialectical behavior therapy) group and helps and inspires others to learn new skills.”
Parker was nominated by Mariteresa Jackson and the Oxford MST team. Jackson wrote, “Susan exhibits gentleness and professionalism in every aspect of her role as an MST supervisor. She is well loved by her team!”
Parker’s team wrote, “Susan is an absolutely wonderful supervisor. She possesses a high degree of clinical skills and an outgoing personality that engages others in all realms, from consumers to community associates and colleagues alike. She is a very talented therapist who shows a great deal of integrity. She is an excellent role model of self-awareness and self-care, and has great insight. She exemplifies the ‘whatever it takes’ approach and demonstrates a high standard in service delivery by thinking outside the box to meet consumer and staff needs. As a supportive team member, she is always willing to go above and beyond to assure we have what we need to perform our jobs effectively and feel supported in doing so. Susan truly cares about the well-being of us just as she does the families we all work with. She is fair, honest, and always available to give guidance and supervision, no matter what time of day or day of the week. Susan also challenges others to improve upon skills in a way that is positive and motivating, encouraging others to want to do better. In short, she is a wonderful person and very deserving of the TCMHS inspiration award.”
The meeting, held at the Hilton Garden Inn, in Auburn, included a reception featuring original art created by consumers at the agency’s Social Learning Center on Strawberry Avenue.
Lee Averill, director of regional practices at Central Maine Medical Group, and Amy Thiele, manager of Integrated Care for Tri-County Mental Health Services, were the featured keynote speakers. They discussed the services that Tri-County Mental Health and Central Maine Health provide in collaboration with one another.
