AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced that Katie Doherty will serve as the organization’s new president and CEO. The chamber also announced that Patty Hewett, vice president operations, has been promoted to chief operations officer.
A Waterville native and a graduate of Thomas College, Doherty has served as the Chamber’s program director since 2015. During her time with the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce Doherty has been the driving force behind the growth of several events and programs including the Kenney Awards and the annual Business EXPO.
She is also responsible for bringing the popular Color Dash 5K to Augusta. A graduate of the Kennebec Leadership Institute, Doherty is passionate about community involvement and encouraging the development of more business leaders in the area.
“The board is excited to have Katie as the new president and CEO of the Kennebec Valley Chamber,” said Stacey Morrison, chair of the Board of Directors. “During her time with the chamber, Katie has proven herself to be a motivated, creative, and effective leader. She truly cares about the success of the Kennebec Valley and is willing to work hard, going above and beyond to support our businesses and communities. I look forward to seeing what Katie is able to accomplish in her new role.”

Patty Hewett, the chamber’s new chief operations officer, has been with the Kennebec Valley Chamber since 2002. She plays a key role in a number of chamber programs, including Cynergy, the organization’s Young Professionals Program.
Of Hewett’s promotion, Morrison said, “Patty has been an asset to the chamber’s work for over a decade, and her expertise will be incredibly valuable as she steps into the role of chief operations officer. The entire board and I look forward to working with Patty in her new role.”
