AUGUSTA — It’s a little known fact that Cozy Cottage Fabric’s Alterations & Upholstery has been in business for 10 years and its proprietor has more than 50 years’ experience in alterations and tailoring.
“I started sewing when I was 8 with the local 4H group and loved it,” said Brenda Pinkham, owner and seamstress. “I took more classes in school and proceeded to own Brenda’s Bridal and Tux shop for 20 years, enjoying working with brides and families.
“I then opened this shop with fabric, still doing the alterations and tailoring and working with customers to quilt and take sewing lessons. I also design upscale vintage clothing.
“Sewing is my passion. I am always working on projects, like repairing old quilts for families to keep passing down to generations . I also do long-arm quilting for one penny per inch. This puts the quilts together for customers, so if you like making tops to quilts and don’t like putting them together, you can bring them to me.
“I also make curtains, drapes and roman shades for customers.
“My husband’s passion is working with furniture and bringing it back to life. He loves to upholster, so if you have furniture that needs to be upholstered or needs cushions or have outdoor furniture needing new covers, or springs, etc., he is a good guy for the job!”
