PAID POLITICAL AD: Calhoun Candidate for Oxford County Treasurer

Sep. 262018

OXFORD — Elizabeth Watson Calhoun, of Oxford, won the Democratic primary for Oxford County treasurer and will run in the general election. She has a degree in political science from the University of Maine and a Law Degree from Georgetown University.

While at Orono, Calhoun interned for Sen. William S. Cohen in Washington, D.C., and worked on his staff after graduation. Following Cohen’s retirement from the senate, she continued working in D.C. while pursuing her law degree at night. Calhoun then practiced law in Pennsylvania until moving back to Maine.
Calhoun is a board member of the Friends of the Norway Memorial Library and volunteers for Otisfield Community Lunch as well as the PTO at her son’s school. Calhoun’s service on the Finance and Auditing Committees for a national non-profit has provided experience in budgeting and accounting oversight.
“Serving on these committees and working with the outside auditors has taught me what questions to ask to make sure that money is properly spent and accounted for,” she said. Greater oversight, transparency, and access to information are key themes of her campaign.
