TURNER — Turner Public Library will host an afternoon workshop on genealogy research using the popular online database Ancestry.com.
The workshop will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19. It is free, and will be taught by genealogy enthusiast and experienced Ancestry.com navigator Linda Poland.
Poland will introduce participants to the service, including how to conduct basic research and an overview of the types of records available. Participants able to bring their own laptops or tablets are encouraged to do so to avoid waiting for computer access.
Turner Public Library will offer access to Ancestry.com through the shared resources of the Maine State Library. It is not necessary to be a Turner Public Library patron to attend the free workshop. Poland will offer follow-up assistance with Ancestry.com research by appointment.
