BELGRADE — The topic will be the mystery surrounding Sir Harry Oakes when the Belgrade Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Maine Lakes Resource Center, 137 Main St.
David Leigh will speak about “The Life and Mysterious Death of Maine-born Millionaire, Sir Harry Oakes,” whose career, fortune and death garnered worldwide attention.
Leigh, a local historian and Maine educator with a 31-year career teaching and administering, will provide a program filled with mystery and intrigue involving a yet unsolved murder.
