NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital is offering two programs to get people warmed up and in shape for winter.
An eight-week walking for better health program begins Sept. 11, and a Gentle Flow Yoga session will be held Sept. 12.
The walking program will help participants enjoy the benefits of walking and staying active as the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter.
The class for all walking levels, and will be held from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 11, and continuing until Thursday, Nov. 1. those participating should wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water.
The series is free to all, but registration is required.
The Gentle Flow Yoga session will be from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.
The cost is $5 and registration is required. The class will meet in the Harper Conference Center, Ripley Office Building, 193 Main St.
It will be led by registered yoga instructor Kat Larsen, who will introduce calming and energizing practices to balance both body and mind. Those attending should wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat, an eye mask or towel to cover eyes, a cushion or blanket to sit on and a bottle of water.
