HIRAM — Hiram Historical Society received a grant from the Maine State Archives to convert fragile VHS video tapes to modern day DVDs and will show some of them to the public at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Great Ossipee Museum, 20 Historical Ridge.
Videos feature fabled figures, events and places from the 1930s to the 1990s. Narrations and stories include those by Raymond Cotton, owner of the beloved Cotton’s General Store, ham radio operator, blueberry farmer, Hiram Town Clerk for 50 years, and Walter Twitchell, U.S. postmaster and owner of the popular Hiram Creamery. The program is free and open to the public.
