MOUNT VERNON — The Dr. Shaw Memorial Library is hosting a mushroom walk, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18.
The walk will be led by Barbara Skapa, and start in the library parking lot.
The walk is free, but a donation to benefit the library is recommended and may be contributed the day of the event. Those attending should wear clothing suitable for hiking; bring a basket or bag and a small knife for collecting mushrooms.
The walk may be local, or might involve a short car trip to get to another location. Organizers ask that those intending to take part register in case it has to be canceled because of weather. To register, call the library at 207-293-2565 or email drshaw@lib.me.us or by sign up at the library before Aug. 12.
