AUBURN — The Auburn Recreation Department has announced the third annual Auburn Summer Festival will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10 through 12, at locations throughout the city. All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
Highlights include:
Friday, Aug. 10:
* Box Car Movie Night at Festival Plaza, 112 Main St., 8:30 p.m. showing of “Turbo.” * Auburn’s Men’s Slow-Pitch Softball Draft League all-star game and homerun derby at Pettengill Park, 48 Pettengill Park Road, 6 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 11:
* Androscoggin River clean-up 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. * Baxter Outdoor 5k Trail Run at Mount Apatite, 10 a.m. race start time ($) * Fourth annual Summer Block Party and Make-A-Wish Fundraiser with Uncle Andy’s Digest and Mac’s Grill from 1 to 9 p.m. at Mac’s Grill, 1052 Minot Ave.; includes kids carnival, local bands, silent auction, beer garden, food and more, followed by fireworks at 9 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 12:
* Lake Auburn Open Mini Golf Tournament at Taber’s, 470 Lake Shore Drive, 9:30 a.m. ($) * Troy Barnies’ Pop-Up Basketball Clinic, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Union Street Gully Courts
