Survivors, caregivers and friends of the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine were invited to meander through the flower gardens at Mary and Bob Van Nest’s home in Norway Saturday, July 14. All who attended said they enjoyed the different colors, landscaping and listening to shared stories. Tucked away behind flowers were little surprises like statues of fairies, a Buddha, frogs and other treats. “Once we started building the gardens, it was hard to stop,” said Mary Van Nest. “When you are present in the gardens, it is peaceful; you see the colors and smell the fragrance of the different flowers in bloom.” The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine is at 199 Main St, Norway.
