Maine musicians who made an impact to be remembered at Museum L-A

LEWISTON — Professional musicians who made an impact will be remembered at Dance Party Under the Stars II at Museum L-A.
Those who would like to see a professional musician honored may drop off a photo by Aug. 24 for the Friday, Sept. 7 event.

The memorial photos of the musicians will be on display at the party on the exterior fence where cross the footbridge to enter.
The party will be held 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the museum’s future home on the shores of the Androscoggin River near Simard/Payne Park and the footbridge spanning the river to Bonney Park in Auburn.
Im the 40s and 50s Lewiston-Auburn had the highest number of musicians per capita in the United States, according to the museum. Music was their work, and Museum L-A wants to honor it.
“The Dance Party is a wonderful opportunity to remember the musicians who have passed over the years and who have played a major role in shaping our community with their musical talents,” said Rachel Desgrosseilliers, executive director. “We want to bring back the fond memories of past musicians while hosting a spectacular night along the river for the people of Lewiston-Auburn.”
Museum L-A, in the Bates Mill Complex at 35 Canal St., will accept photographs of musicians who have passed away from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays until Friday, Aug. 24.
