MINOT — Hemond’s Moto-X, Maine 4×4 and Minot Historical Society are teaming up once again to host a weekend-long bash Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18 and 19, at Hemond’s Moto-X and Offroad Park, Route 119.
Gates will open at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, for riders looking to come early and camp out.
The Hemond’s Offroad Bash – Show, Mud & Grub weekend will be packed full of fun for everyone. Not only will there be a ton of off-roading, but plenty of events for the public to watch and participate in, including events for the kids.
The weekend opens to the public Saturday at 9 a.m. with the Off-Road Vehicle and Lifted Truck Show. Last year there were more than 50 vehicles participating. There will be vendors and vehicle owners to chat up, and tons of vehicles to ogle. Voting will take place for the best modified, the muddiest, and more.
Other events for the public include a super-sized slip and slide, open to all ages, and Barbie Jeep Racing for anyone with a a Power Wheels/Barbie Jeep kicking around. Racers must bring their own safety gear and a helmet. Riders from all over Maine and beyond will participate in Obstacle Course, Tuff Truck Challenge and Mud Bowl. Maine 4×4 has been creating courses on the compound. Feel free to bring your ride and try your hand at them. In addition to all the fun to watch, there will be STACYC (balance) bike demos, a water jungle gym, water slide and playground for the youngsters.
Minot Historical Society will be cooking up lunch Saturday, including hot dogs, homemade beans, and the works. All funds earned by MHS that weekend will be going to its historical building fund for renovation of, an 1830’s parsonage in town. Hemond’s crew will also be dishing up tasty eats all weekend, but new this year will be food trucks. Reminder: This is a cash only event.
With the event expanding to a full weekend this year, Saturday night will be full of excitement. Bonfires and live music (Faceplant and Powerage, an AC/DC tribute band) will be playing from 6 to 11 p.m., free to all with admission. Because this is a full weekend, riders and visitors are welcome and even encouraged encouraged to camp out.
