Turner Public Library’s annual meeting Aug. 8

TURNER — Turner Public Library has announced the annual meeting will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, in the Community Room of Leavitt Institute, beginning with a social mixer at 6:30 p.m. and the business portion of the meeting at 7 p.m.
The meeting is open to the public, and all area residents with an interest in the library are encouraged to attend.

During the meeting, attendees will be provided with a review of the library’s previous year, as well as a look forward to upcoming events and plans for the future, including a review of the library’s budget. The annual nomination and election of Turner Public Library corporators will be held, necessitating the attendance of current corporators.
Elizabeth Sienko and Mary Jane Auns of Winthrop’s Bailey Public Library will be the featured speakers. Sienko is vice-chairwoman of the library Board of Trustees and serves on its building, finance and personnel committees. Auns is also a BPL trustee and serves on the building, policy and technology committees.
Both are former chairs of the trustees and were instrumental in the fund raising, grant writing and realization of the BPL’s major renovation and expansion project, which will be the focus of their presentation. The information they present will be of interest to all area residents wanting to ensure the future of the Turner library as a vital community resource.
